It is applicable to the support of projects from concept through to design, development, procurement, production, installation, operation and maintenance and to the disposal of products. It amplifies the configuration management elements found in ISO 9004-1, while annex B provides a correlation between the guidance found in this International Standard and the quality system sta ndards ISO 9001, ISO 9002, ISO 9003 and ISO 9004-1.
The application of configuration management may be tailored to suit individual projects, taking into account the size, complexity and nature of the work.
NOTE 1 - For further guidance related to special applications (e.g. software), refer to the relevant International Standards as listed in annex D.
